DNV is the first company in the Middle East and India (MEI) region to be accredited as an Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) for code-stamping services in line with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) codes.

The company’s Abu Dhabi office is now an ASME AIA and is similarly accredited to perform in-service inspection activities, including repairs and alterations compliant with the US’ internationally recognized National Board Inspection Code (NBIC). These accreditations allow DNV to authorize pressure vessel manufacturers to apply the certification code stamp to items indicating conformity with
ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, the hallmark of acceptance and certification. DNV can also now provide surveys to verify manufacturing activities during the fabrication of boilers and pressure vessels.

The ASME and NBIC accreditations add to DNV MEI’s verification of materials and components (VMC) services, creating a ‘one-stop shop’ for VMC in the local market. “VMC is a growing service line in MEI,” said Anupam Ghosal, regional manager, MEI, for DNV - Oil & Gas. “ASME AIA accreditation enhances our competence. Accreditation reduces business risk for manufacturers and their customers by assuring them of our commitment to industry standards.”

The new services are delivered out of DNV’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices.
