The customers are three non-governemental organizations: Carbon War Room, Rocky Mountain Institute and Clinton Foundation’s in the context of their program called “10 Island Challenge”.
Project challenge
Accelerate the transition of Caribbean island economies from fossil fuels to renewable energy resources like wind, solar and geothermal, and energy efficiency measures. Help the participating islands to reduce their heavy dependence on fossil fuels while decreasing the cost of electricity for consumers through optimising the mix of conventional generation, renewable energy, and battery storage in a safe and reliable manner.

Approach
- Renewable energy feasibility and grid integration studies to evaluate the renewable energy potential and impacts to the grid
- Prepare Integrated Resource Plans for utilities to map out a long-term path to achieve increased renewable energy penetration
- Prepare Requests For Proposals and develop contract bid specifications for procurement of turn-key contractors and Independent Power Producers for both renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.
DNV’s role in the project
DNV acts as the key technical advisor for assisting the three non-profit organizations, local governments and utilities in this transition.
