Alexandre Jorge is a consultant in DNV GL's Energy Markets & Technology team and has more than 7 years of experience in the energy sector. He has been involved in client engagements covering the whole electricity value chain, focused on long-term energy markets, transmission and distribution systems analysis, smart grids roadmaps and distribution business processes. He is currently a member of the European Power Price Forecasting team from DNV GL, focused on long-term regional developments and power price forecasts for Portugal, Spain and France. Since joining DNV GL in 2013, Alexandre Jorge has provided strategic advice to several clients such as investors, utilities, regulators, TSOs and DNOs across Europe, South America and Asia, and has partially assumed project management functions.
During this period, Alexandre Jorge has participated in several advisory engagements covering strategic support for renewables promoters in Portugal and Spain based on potential developments of energy markets, long-term wholesale market forecasts, feasibility studies on the impacts of a progressive decarbonisation of the European power sector, integration of renewables into the grid, operation of energy and balancing markets and power system analysis including investment needs on transmission and distribution grids. Additionally, has participated in strategic projects on the transmission and distribution grids side, covering benchmarking of distribution business processes, definition of strategic transformation programs and development of roadmaps in Portugal, Spain and South America.
Prior to joining DNV GL he collaborated in developing new mechanisms to support the ancillary services in the Iberian market (MIBEL) at REN (the Portuguese Transmission System Operator). He holds a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, from Technical University of Lisbon (IST), and a Post-Graduation Diploma in Business Economics and Competition, from ISCTE Business School of Lisbon (Portugal).
