Member of the German Bundestag, Spokesperson for Energy Policy of the Alliance 90/The Greens Parliamentary Group

Born on 18 January 1979 in Bergisch Gladbach; married.

Obtained Abitur (higher-education entrance qualification) in 1998 at Herkenrath academic secondary school in Bergisch Gladbach; studied at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg, graduating with a degree in environmental science in 2005, and a doctorate in 2012, thesis title "Energy efficiency policy as a contribution to climate protection – Analysis of the implementation of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) in Germany (residential sector)".

Lüneburg county manager of Alliance 90/The Greens from 2005–2006; Research Assistant at the Federal Environment Agency from 2006 – 2013 (Head of the "Energy efficiency" specialist area from January – October 2013).

Memberships include Friends of the Earth Germany (BUND); The Compensators; United Services Trade Union (ver.di); the Association to Promote Political Action (v.f.h.) and the German Transport Club (VCD).

Joined Alliance 90/The Greens in 1998; Member of the executive committee of the Lower Saxony Land association of the Green Youth from 1999 – 2001; town councellor in Lüneburg from 2002 – 2006; member of the executive committee of the Lower Saxony branch of Alliance 90/The Greens from 2003 – 2005; member of the Lower Saxony Alliance 90/The Greens party council from 2005 – 2007 and since November 2013; member of Lüneburg county council from 2006 – 2011. Member of the executive committee of the Lüneburg local branch of Alliance 90/The Greens since October 2016, member of the executive committee of the Lüneburg county branch of Alliance 90/The Greens since January 2017.

Member of the Bundestag since 2013. Spokeswoman on energy policy for the Alliance 90/The Greens parliamentary group and member of the Committee on Economic Affairs and Energy since 2013; substitute member of the Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety; substitute member of the Commission on the Storage of Highly Radioactive Materials in accordance with Section 3 of the Repository Site Selection Act until 2016.
