Speaker: Michael Wilkinson, Global Segment Leader, Energy Digitalization, DNV GL
Michael leads DNV GL – Energy’s digitalization activities and the development of new digital solutions for global energy customers. His activities span the energy value chain: from renewable generation, transmission and distribution, to energy management programmes. After working as an Engineering Doctorate Research Engineer with FKI Energy Technology (De Wind), Michael joined Garrad Hassan as an operational wind farm analyst in 2007. He spent several years assessing operational wind farms; working for owners, operators and investors worldwide on a range of data analysis, wind farm monitoring and long term energy forecasting services. His previous roles have included Head of Section for Asset Integrity and Performance in the Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, as well as Service Line Leader for Asset Operations and Management globally.
During the presentation, Michael will discuss:
- Opportunities for use of UAVs in the energy industry
- Application of computer vision – example use case in wind and solar energy
- Challenges for use of UAVs in the energy industry
