Heating is a major part of the energy consumption in cities and industry. The energy source of heat is almost exclusively fossil based today, sometimes in the form of residual heat. The climate mitigation goals however put a lot of stress on this fossil sourcing. Many transition roadmaps propose energy efficiency combined with green energy sources as a way out. Small scale heat pumps, geothermal heat and solar thermal collectors, eventually connected via microgrids, are often mentioned as most promising non-fossil solutions. A major concern however remains whether such system will feasible, reliable and affordable. In this breakfast session we are happy to present you the actual views of major stakeholders, like Fluxys and the City of Antwerp, on the transition in heat.
- Fluxys will learn us about the mythes and reality of natural and green gas in the energy transition
- DNV GL will present the bottom-up and top-down approach in the City of Antwerps climate plan and heat transition
- Third speaker to be confirmed
