Visit our stand (6310) at the World Future Energy Summit

The World Future Energy Summit (WFES), part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, is the foremost platform dedicated to the innovation and digitalization trends that are key to transformation in the global energy mix.

Meet with our technical experts at WFES on 13-16 January. Powering the future in the Middle East, DNV GL’s team will discuss the potential of renewable energy, energy efficiency and smart metering solutions to meet growing energy demands and help the region to make the transition from a hydrocarbon based economy to a greener model.

DNV GL will be joined on the stand by GreenPowerMonitor, the solar monitoring experts.

Learn more about SolarFarmer - Solar PV plant design software
As the demand for solar energy increases, solar plant design will become more challenging as the terrain becomes more complex. This will require PV plant design software that can perform more reliable modelling for accurate energy calculations. Our new software product SolarFarmer, provides unique models designed by our engineers based on decades of engineering experience in the solar industry. It can be used for conceptual and detailed design and analysis for solar PV plants. SolarFarmer combines thoroughly validated PV simulation algorithms with a user-friendly, modern user interface allowing quick configuration of PV plant designs and simulation of PV layouts.

Agenda

Conference presentations

Part 1

Conference presentations - 13 January 2020

PANEL SESSION: The role of blockchain in energy trading and storage management

SESSION OVERVIEW:

As energy provision becomes more distributed and storage plays a greater role – be that for "small-scale community-based" energy or large-scale grid interconnections - they will be underpinned by blockchain. The technology will facilitate future trading platforms, tracking consumption (including peer-to-peer) and supply. This discussion will look at the role blockchain will play in future energy supplies.

Speaker

Mohammed Atif

Area Manager, Middle East and Africa, DNV GL

Part 2

Conference presentations - 14 January 2020

PANEL SESSION: Achieving net-zero, carbon neutral goals through accelerated energy transition

SESSION OVERVIEW:

There are many pillars for cities to become net-zero energy and carbon neutral. And energy distribution will play a major role. This scene-setting discussion will focus on approaches to decarbonisation in the built environment, including the design and materials used, the use of clean energy technologies, smart technologies and increased energy efficiency in buildings.

Speaker

Claude Godin

Principal Consultant, Policy Advisory and Research, DNV GL

PANEL SESSION: Leveraging Artificial Intelligence in renewable energy environments

SESSION OVERVIEW:

Artificial Intelligence is expected to boost efficiencies across the renewable energy sector by automating operations in the solar and wind industries. This session will look at AI’s use to design renewable energy systems, control their operations, improve energy efficiency and manage energy storage.

Speaker

Juan Carlos

CEO, GreenPowerMonitor

Part 3

Conference presentations - 15 January 2020

PANEL SESSION: Corporate PPAs: Promoting growth in the distributed solar energy market

SESSION OVERVIEW:

Long-term, private PPAs offer industries and organisations that rely on a stable electricity supply some assurance that their supply will be uninterrupted, particularly in the Commercial & Industrial developments. They are little used but of growing interest in the region, especially among larger companies. How do PPPAs work, what are the risks and will we see them growing in use in Mena?

Speaker

Martijn Maandag

Director Due Diligence, DNV GL

PRESENTATION: Digitalisation as an enabler of the energy transition

SESSION OVERVIEW:

How are digital technologies helping to accelerate the energy transition to a decarbonized global economy? The energy sector is undergoing a major shift towards a cleaner and greener future. How is digitization enabling this and how are stakeholders in the power and renewables industry adopting technologies and adapting to the necessary change in mindset?

Speaker

Michael Wilkinson

Segment Leader, Energy Digitalization, DNV GL
