DNV GL Business Assurance breaks new ground in South East Asia and Asia for its Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification Program for Hospitals

Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification Program for Hospitals

On 18 August 2016, Phyathai 1 Hospital, in the Phyathai and Paolo Hospital Group of the Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited in Thailand, became the first hospital in Asia to receive Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification by DNV GL.

  

On 13 October 2016, the DNV GL Comprehensive Stroke Center certificate was presented by His Excellency Kjetil Paulsen, Norwegian Ambassador to Thailand at a ceremony attended by over 100 healthcare professionals. The occasion, graced by the presence of the Ambassador, was featured on the local television news and the local press.

His Excellency Kjetil Paulsen, in his congratulatory speech to the hospital, said: “… Phyathai 1 Hospital’s pursuance of this Certification demonstrates its leadership and commitment to provide best possible care and treatment for its stroke patients. Certification by DNV GL, a world leading certification body, is a key step toward establishing the hospital’s reputation for excellence in the treatment of stroke patients. The hospital’s pioneer spirit and commitment to deliver the highest level of service and interventions is highly commendable…”

Mr. Att Thongtang, Chief Executive Officer, Phyathai and Paolo Hospital Group said: “ … Phyathai 1 Hospital in particular aims to become a “Boutique & Innovation Hospital”.  The dedication of all members of the hospital team, including the management, physicians, nurses and all the staff of the hospital to provide comprehensive care for stroke patients has enabled the Stroke Center of Phyathai 1 Hospital to become the first center outside of the North America to attain Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification from DNV GL. I believe this is an important milestone to demonstrate Phyathai 1 Hospital’s leadership in the treatment and care of stroke patients ...” 

Dr. Krirkyos Jalayondeja, Hospital Executive Director, Phyathai 1 Hospital said: “ … The hospital has created and developed many projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its patient care, particularly for stroke patients. Notable examples include the establishment of an acute stroke unit for the exclusive care of stroke patients, a mobile stroke unit equipped with Computerized Tomography scan (CT scan) and the capability of providing emergency treatment in the field for stroke patients. The hospital is also using international guidelines for acute stroke in its patient care operations. With our ongoing efforts to enhance our patient care processes, we are confident that our outcomes are comparable to international levels …”
