“We would like to thank all of the judges and Lloyd’s List for these awards,” said Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria, Regional Manager South East Asia, Pacific & India at DNV GL – Maritime. “The awards are a testament to the partnerships we have developed with our customers and industry stakeholders to move the industry forward in the key areas of digitalization and environmental responsibility.”

The Lloyd’s List Intelligence Data Innovation Award recognized DNV GL’s role in developing a range of digital innovations including drone surveys, electronic certificates, smart survey booking, and its Veracity open data platform, enabling customers to reap the benefits of digitalization from both DNV GL and other industry partners. “At DNV GL, we are committed to accelerating the use of digital innovations and new services to make customer interactions as smooth as possible,” says Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria.

The Environment Award recognize organizations that demonstrate an outstanding contribution to reducing marine pollution, and DNV GL won the award for its Green Corridor Joint Industry Project (JIP). This brought together key stakeholders to develop a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for transporting iron ore and coal in a “Green Corridor” between Australia and China.

The project began with the development of a LNG-fuelled Newcastlemax design, which was upsized to a Very Large Ore Carrier (VLOC) level in the second phase of the project (read more here). “As we move forward, we will continue to innovate to enable our customers to advance the safety, sustainability and efficiency of their operations,” added Cristina Saenz de Santa Maria.

The Lloyd’s List Asia Pacific Award series recognizes the industry’s successes, setting a benchmark for excellence while rewarding innovative ideas and concepts that have pushed the boundaries of what is possible. Winners were assessed by a panel of influential bodies including BHP, BIMCO, Singapore Maritime Foundation, Ports Australia, Indonesian National Shipowners’ Association, Maritime Industry Australia, Allen & Glenhill, Wallem, Aries Shipbroking, ENESEL, Magsaysay, Standard P&I Club, MPA and LWP.Sg Consultants.
