DNV GL Rules for Classification published

The DNV GL Rules for Classification was published on 16.12.2013.

These rules are generic and are valid for classification of all vessel types and objects covered by legacy DNV and GL rules. As such they replace the previously published DNV GL Rules for Classification of Ships, but no practical consequences are brought along for classification of ships.

These rules, together with the two legacy rule sets, presently form the complete set of Rules for DNV GL. The DNV GL rules give general regulations for the use of the two legacy rule sets and as such give guidance for how to operate during the transition period until DNV GL has fully established one rule set.

The DNV GL rules came into force at the date of publication and will be the platform for all existing and coming contracts, for new builds, for vessels in operation and for certification of materials & components.
