Powering the future in the Middle East, DNV GL’s team will discuss new ways to meet growing energy demands and help the region to make the transition from a hydrocarbon based economy to a greener model.
Arnhem, The Netherlands 20th January 2014 DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts, will be participating at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi between the 20th – 22nd January 2014 (stand #7400). As the Middle East’s population centres are growing and natural resources become increasingly constrained, global energy stakeholders are meeting at the Summit to determine solutions that will help address the pressures on the local energy market.
With many of the power generation and network assets in the Middle East approaching their half-life and many of the utilities and other stakeholders wanting to transition from a hydrocarbon based economy to a greener model, the World Future Energy Summit brings together the industries brightest minds to investigate potential ways to boost energy efficiency and clean energy capabilities in the region.

DNV GL will use the event as a platform to launch its brand new vision paper “The fastest path to implement renewables: distributed storage” which tackles key issues such as the Middle East grids and operation systems’ ability to absorb large amounts of distributed generation from solar and wind and how to address network security supply issues. The Summit is the first energy event the company has attended under its new DNV GL brand. David Walker and his team will share best practice business knowledge and field expertise, providing analysis of current developments in the Middle Eastern energy market. They will also be advising on new approaches to generating future energy supplies that will help accelerate the region’s transition to a safer, smarter, greener energy future.

- David Walker, DNV GL - Energy will participate in a panel discussion on Energy Efficiency in the built environment: Together with other industry leaders, David Walker will be discussing what the barriers are to building in energy efficiency as standard and how long it will take to drive a change in consumer behaviour so that energy efficiency is second nature and not an afterthought. – Wednesday 22nd January, 11.30 – 12.15
