We want your ideas to co-create a sustainable future

Together with partners, DNV GL has launched a digital crowd-sourcing platform to help turn global risks into business opportunities. We’re now calling on you, our 80 000 customers and stakeholders worldwide, to submit your business ideas for a sustainable future by 1 July.

Collaboration is the key to overcoming the serious global challenges the world is facing today, and to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  This is why DNV GL works together with the United Nations Global Compact and the Monday Morning Global Institute each year to develop the Global Opportunity Report, where we assess the market opportunities related to five global risks.

The project collaborates with business leaders, disruptive thinkers, sustainability experts, investors and leading academics to unpack the world’s most pressing and systemic challenges and identify the new sustainable market opportunities they create.

“Harnessing the competence, resources and ingenuity of the global business community to develop new solutions, technologies, products and services that can meet societal needs while creating business value is a critical component of this,” says Bjørn K. Haugland, DNV GL’s Chief Sustainability Officer.

The five risks selected for the 2017 Global Opportunity Report are:

  • Rising inequality - mind the gap
  • Rising conflict and instability
  • Soil depletion
  • Cities facing climate disruption
  • Escalating cyber-crime epidemic

Calling on business leadership

DNV GL is now calling on its 80 000 customers and partners worldwide to review the five risks selected for the next Global Opportunity Report to be launched in January 2017, and share their ideas for solutions that can help solve these challenges.

Join us in co-creating a sustainable future by submitting your business plan for the future here.

The Global Opportunity Report will be presented by DNV GL's Chief Group Development Officer, David Walker, to more than 1 000 CEOs at the Global Compact Leaders Summit in New York this week. The summit is the largest gathering of chief executives on the topic of sustainable business.

About the Partners

The United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to voluntarily align their operations and strategies with 10 universally accepted principles. Endorsed by chief executives, the UN Global Compact is a leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible corporate policies and practices. Launched in 2000, it is the largest corporate sustainability initiative in the world - with more than 12 000 signatories from business and key stakeholder groups in 150 countries, and more than 80 Local Networks.

Monday Morning Global Institute is a leading think-tank in Scandinavia, which for 15 years has developed a range of activities through cross-sector partnerships. A common denominator in the projects is the desire to build sustainable and resilient societies. Monday Morning has founded Sustainia, a world-leading solutions platform with a clear and achievable vision of a sustainable society built on scenarios in which readily available solutions, innovations and technologies are implemented on a large scale.
