Systematic cause analysis technique (SCAT)

SCAT helps you and your organization learn from accidents and near-misses to prevent further human injury, environmental damage and quality losses.

SCAT is a simple but powerful tool to investigate the causation of loss events. SCAT is used by operational staff to quickly identify the corrective actions necessary to prevent similar events happening in the future.

SCAT is available as:

  • A poster in 30 languages (pdf format)
  • An app for phones, tablets and desktop.

Marine systematic cause analysis technique (MSCAT) is also available for the analysis of maritime incidents.

Use this simple SCAT app on your phone, tablet or desktop and begin driving down your accident rates and improving organizational performance.

For more information on SCAT, see this presentation.
