Description

Harmonised line pipe requirements in IOGP S-616 will be imposed on the industry this year. We suggest the development of digital tools that will simplify implementation and support users. We would like to engage the industry in exploring opportunities and jointly shape the content of this JIP. This may include solutions such as: automating generation of line pipe specifications, developing software modules that demonstrate code compliance or standardized data protocols to simplify work processes.

Challenge

The harmonized line pipe requirements in IOGP S-616 will be imposed on the industry this year. One challenge is to implement the document in a cost-efficient manner. Digitalization gives a unique opportunity to improve and change existing work processes, release potential cost reduction and enhance efficiency.

Solutions

We suggest the development of digital tools that will simplify implementation and support users. We would like to engage the industry in exploring opportunities and jointly shape the content of this JIP. This may include solutions such as:

  • Making S-616 ‘digital ready’ when implemented in DNVGL-ST-F101
  • Automating the generation of project-specific line pipe specifications
  • Developing software modules that demonstrate code compliance
  • Developing standardized data protocols to simplify work processes.

Benefits

  • Long-term efficiency and productivity gains
  • Predictable project planning
  • Enabling automatization of data handling
  • Enabling data-based decision making.

Value

We believe that digitalization of standards will substantially reduce the amount of work in all project phases.
