DNV GL’s ES-Grid is an advanced modeling and simulation tool designed to value energy storage placed and operated on the distribution system. It uses an industry-accepted distribution circuit simulation tool, which can be customized to a specific system, to assess the benefits of individual and/or “bundled” storage applications. Key inputs can be easily changed to assess and compare the outcomes of multiple scenarios of particular use cases. The resulting analysis shows how energy storage will operate on the system and the potential revenue benefits. ES-Grid provides a rigorous, third-party analysis which can support a business or rate case for energy storage, a necessity when making large-scale investments these technologies.
