DNV’s Microgrid Optimization tool consists of mathematical software modules to simulate the behaviour of customer premises with Distributed Energy Resources (DER) such as distributed generation, electric and thermal storage, energy efficiency upgrades and building automation. The underlying drivers to DER operation such as regulatory and policy details, climate, technology cost projections and tariffs are represented through high granularity models specific to geographical locations. A unique feature of the tool is a holistic operational simulation that captures the inter-play between different resources maximising economic value or electric power reliability.
