Load Line survey and certification service, advice
We provide statutory survey, advice and certification services based on the International Convention on Load Lines (ICLL) for DNV GL-classed ships.
The International Convention on Load Lines (ICLL) generally applies to ships engaged on international voyages, with the following exceptions:
- Ships of war
- Ships of less than 24 metres in length
- Pleasure yachts not engaged in trade
- Fishing vessels
The convention defines the requirements to be fulfilled for the structures, equipment and fittings covered by the convention for which standards for strength and construction are not expressly provided.
The ICLL defines the maximum allowed draught of the ship, and how this is to be marked on the side of the ship.
DNV GL supports the safety of your ship or offshore unit, even prior to design and construction, right to the end of its service life.
Immediately after the survey on board, we issue the International Load Line Certificate for proving the safety of the ship and crew.
Our well-trained and experienced surveyors and office staff involved in the different Load Line statutory service processes are at your side.
DNV GL maintains extensive technical and knowledge databases for IMO, EU, ILO, IACS, national flag states, environmental and safety requirements, enabling us to always be on top of regulatory developments.
We safeguard the uniform implementation of the relevant international and specific flag state requirements by maintaining close cooperation with all the major flag states and other stakeholders.
We meet your needs without compromising on safety:
- Safeguarding compliance with mandatory requirements through our worldwide surveyor network and office personnel
- Providing a sense of proportion when applying statutory requirements
- Assistance in technical discussions with flag state administrations for newbuildings and fleet in service
