A sea change is underway that affects the approach of companies seeking to provide energy-related products and services to consumers. A rapidly-expanding landscape of cross industry solution providers from the energy, telecommunications, data, security, and service sectors represent a powerful mix of current and potential players.
Convergence is the way DNV GL characterizes the complex dynamics underway in the energy industry. It is the collision of players across key sectors, where old business models are being re-examined and new strategies are being explored in four key sectors: Internet of Things companies, utilities, retail energy providers, and distributed energy resource providers.
DNV GL has launched a ground breaking study to explore how a broad range of sectors and key players are developing mission-critical strategies to address and anticipate the customer’s needs in this converging landscape.
DNV GL’s multi-client approach is uniquely suited to address these core challenges (and opportunities). Convergence Study Members must enroll no later than May 2017 to participate in this executive-level, strategic, and exclusive study. The study results will not be made public or disclosed to non-participants.
Examining how the business model will evolve will allow the Convergence participants to navigate these converging dynamics around customer adoption trends, nascent technologies, digitization and financing. The most important modelling themes will be risk identification and mitigation, and tracing the sources customer value and their potential migration.
