With the relatively recent advent of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) comes a marked increase in unconventional gas sources onshore. This has caused the interest in multiphase flows to spread focus on offshore to now also include onshore. There are many similarities between onshore and offshore gathering systems, however, there are some significant differences that require specifically tailored software solutions to achieve the most accurate models. This paper will explore how these differences, were not until recently, adequately met by the software industry.
