Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN)
DNV GL’s strategic partnership with the CTCN
The CTCN is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, hosted by UN Environment and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The Centre promotes the accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies for low carbon and climate-resilient development, at the request of developing countries. The CTCN provides technology solutions, capacity building and advice on policy, legal and regulatory frameworks tailored to the needs of individual countries.
Climate technologies include equipment, techniques, practical knowledge and skills needed for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to climate change.
The CTCN facilitates the transfer of these technologies through three core services: providing technical assistance to developing countries to enhance transfer of climate technologies; providing and sharing information and knowledge on climate technologies; and fostering collaboration and networking of various stakeholders on climate technologies.
Through its services, the CTCN aims to address barriers that hinder the development and transfer of climate technologies, thereby becoming a catalytic force in creating an enabling environment for reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and climate vulnerability, improved local innovation capacities and increased investment in climate technology projects.
In 2014 DNV GL and the CTCN entered into a strategic partnership where DNV GL is supporting the CTCN operations by offering its extensive experience in technology transfer, knowledge management and capacity building. DNV GL also facilitates the engagement with the private sector in the Centre’s network in order to stimulate technology cooperation among developed and developing countries.
