The Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC 2006) came into force in 2013 and every ship and ship owner has to comply with it. Now it is time to take a look at what has been learnt since then. What are the major findings detected during maritime labour inspections? Where could your system be improved to avoid any problems in future?
In this course you will refresh your general understanding of the MLC 2006 requirements regarding implementation, enforcement and the responsibilities of private operators. Taking examples from selected flag states and their national requirements to comply with the DMLC Part II we will have a basis for a closer look into the variations and any sensitive areas within the MLC 2006.
Special focus will be places on deficiencies, harassment/bullying and complaint procedures. Other subjects that are relevant for special consideration will be discussed in a workshop-style approach where participants are encouraged to share their own experiences.
The course focuses on:

- Deficiencies and corrective action
- Involvement of flag and port states
