Description

This course focuses on modeling and analyzing a floating offshore wind turbines using Sesam. Floater modelling is done in GeniE, performing hydrodynamic anlaysis in HydroD followed by tower and wind turbine modelling in Sima. Time domain simulations are performed in Sima, load transfer peformed in HydroD/Wasim for structural anlaysis in Sestra. Results from Sestra could later be used for fatigue analysis in Stofat.

Learning objectives

You will learn how to use GeniE, HydroD, Sima and Wasim software in an efficient way and take advantage of the advanced software features.

Prerequisite:

Basic knowledge in structural engineering, hydrodynamics and familiarity with wind turbines is required. Preferably that the participants have attended SE-04 Concept based FE modelling and analysis of shell structures - Advanced - alternatively SE-05 Hydrostatic analysis of offshore floaters, SE-06 Hydrodynamic analysis of offshore floaters - frequency domain or have similar knowledge in use of GeniE, HydroD, Wadam and Sestra.
