Transmission and distribution industry faces barriers to implement critical digitalization measures to accelerate global energy transition

Just over half (52%) of Distribution Network Operators have digitalization as a core part of their publicly stated strategy, falling to 39% for Transmission System Operators. One third of the T&D industry considers itself less advanced than the wider energy industry in its current application of digitalization. 67% of respondents highlighted need for employees with combined data and domain expertise.

Wärtsilä and DNV GL agree to collaborate in promoting and accelerating marine sector’s digital transformation

The technology group Wärtsilä and classification society DNV GL have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in which they agree to work together to contribute to the marine industry’s ongoing digital transformation. In particular, the two companies wish to further explore the potential use of digital technologies, collaborative data sharing, and standardisation to enhance existing products and services, and to develop new ones. The agreement was signed by Roger Holm, President, Wärtsilä Marine and Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen, CEO, DNV GL – Maritime.

Innogy makes 770 MW of wind and solar power available on DNV GL’s Instatrust digital marketplace

13 wind and solar PV projects of innogy’s renewable energy portfolio will be made available to corporate energy buyers on DNV GL’s Instatrust platform. Instatrust is DNV GL’s global digital marketplace for renewable power purchase agreements (PPAs) connecting corporations committed to buying clean energy with suppliers of wind and solar energy. Innogy provides the first major large commitment on the platform.

DNV GL acts as technical advisor for acquisition of five onshore wind parks in Belgium

Wind parks are totaling 111 GWh per annum of renewable power, the equivalent of about 32,000 Belgian homes. Projects will generate secured annual revenues, benefiting from a 15 to 20-year green certificates local remuneration scheme. Green energy is vital to support the renewables target of the Flemish region, increasing its percentage of energy from renewable sources to meet its 2020 targets.

DNV GL FuelBoss platform creates new online hub for LNG bunkering

As the adoption of LNG as a ship fuel continues to speed up, DNV GL has launched a new online bunkering platform to take operators seamlessly from order through to delivery. FuelBoss offers ship owners, operators and suppliers a single common platform for nomination, scheduling, spot inquiries and business intelligence. LNG suppliers Gasum, Cryo Shipping and Nauticor are amongst the confirmed pilot customers and have supported the development with their expertise and domain knowledge.

OCEAN FARM 1 receives first ever offshore fish farming class certificate from DNV GL

Developing and expanding sustainable aquaculture will be essential as the demand for fish grows around the world. Owned and operated by SalMar, Ocean Farm 1 is the first salmon farm designed and built for exposed operation, with a novel design that combines solutions from aquaculture and the offshore industry. The certification of Ocean Farm 1 to a new DNV GL standard for offshore fish farming installations represents a vital first step towards the utilization of new ocean spaces for aquaculture.
