DNV GL – Maritime appoints new Area Business Development Manager in Germany

The German Maritime industry is undergoing a period of rapid transformation. Digitalization and decarbonization are the grand challenges of our time, and they require increased collaboration between all industry stakeholders. To address the current challenges and to help the German Maritime industry’s transition to a greener and more efficient future, DNV GL, the world’s leading classification society, has appointed Rasmus Stute as Area Germany Business Development Manager.

East Coast Australia JIP delivers a new interactive dashboard for LNG forecast

A comprehensive and interactive dashboard that predicts LNG demand and enables scenario modelling in Australia was developed as a result of the East Coast Australia LNG Joint Industry Project (EC JIP). Facilitated by leading classification society DNV GL, project partners included oil & gas suppliers, LNG infrastructure consultants, ship owners and operators, charterers, industry associations, governmental agencies and regulators. The EC JIP was recently concluded in October and the dashboard will be made available to the public via subscription soon.

DDD-Batman: Launch of international cooperation shines a light on marine battery health

The research institute Fraunhofer ISE, battery supplier Corvus, the Marine Service Unit of Costa Group Carnival Maritime GmbH and DNV GL, the world’s leading classification society, have launched “DDD-Batman”, a new MarTERA-sponsored project to study maritime battery health. As the uptake of maritime batteries increases, being able to provide a better picture of the overall health of installed batteries and the available power, is important for building confidence in the safety of hybrid and electric systems. MarTERA is an EU Horizon 2020 cofound scheme, aimed at strengthening the European Research Area (ERA).

New DNV GL class rules for floating offshore wind expands industry horizon

As the first successful pilots transition into the first commercial projects, floating offshore wind is opening up new vistas to offshore wind generation. To help expand the segment, DNV GL, the world’s leading classification society, has released the first integrated rule set for floating offshore wind structures (DNVGL-RU-OU-0512). The rules provide both new entrants and experienced stakeholders a set of well-tested rules and standardized processes for these new structures.
