Offshore wind requires analysis of vast amounts of design load cases in time domain. Compared to fixed offshore wind, floating wind analyses have models that are more complex and that contain more elements. With longer simulations required, more efficient analyses are crucial, both regarding computational speed and data storage, while still providing support for required standards and recommended practices.

DNV is now introducing Sesam Core for fatigue screening and hotspot checks, a scalable solution allowing fast and efficient analysis of offshore wind structures. The initial release of Sesam Core focuses on fatigue analysis of plate/shell structures. It includes both fatigue screening capabilities and fatigue hotspot checks according to DNV-RP-C203. Fatigue screening and hotspot input is set up on the 3D model in the graphical user interface in GeniE

The overall workflow is supported through Sesam Wind Manager, allowing the use of coupled analysis output from Bladed/Sima, and the ability to run Wasim, Sestra and Sesam Core for many design load cases, locally or on the cloud, as well as offering automatic data and results management.
