Newbuilding Site Supervision - Survey Simulator Practice
Training providing full understanding of the processes involved during a ship new building and carrying out efficient inspections during the production of the vessel at the yard.
During this course participants will gain a full understanding of the processes involved during a ship new building and learn how to carry out efficient inspections during the production of the vessel at the yard. Theoretical sessions are supported with interactive practice using DNV GL’s SurveySimulator to gain experience working in the critical areas on board.
Who should attend:
Duration: 3 day
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by all personnel nominated to undertake newbuilding site supervision. It covers a wide range of topics from understanding stakeholders, project management issues, roles and responsibilities of key staff and the importance of establishing good lines of communication.
After an overview of the set-up of the workplace, the focus switches to the technical issues, including how to read hull drawings and the production of the hull sections. Finally, we come to the inspection process itself and learn what to look for section by section. To enable participants to transfer their newly-gained knowledge into practice, DNV GL’s SurveySimulator is used. This tool has been specifically designed to train users to identify survey and inspection items on board a vessel. Participants can virtually move through the different sections of the ship to check and discover critical areas. Their competence and confidence in using appropriate inspection techniques is thus greatly enhanced.
The course focuses on:
- Familiarization with newbuilding process supervision
- Reading of hull drawings
- Production of hull sections
- Final inspection of tanks/spaces
- Electrical Installations
- Shaft Alignment
- Acceptance criteria
- Safety at work issues
